WEIGHT LOSS CLINIC — BRISBANE
Our Brisbane-based Accredited Practising Dietitians offer personalised nutrition support specialising in weight management and bariatric nutrition. Having supported over a thousand patients on their health journeys, we help people achieve sustainable changes that lead to improved health, energy, and confidence.
Our approach is practical, individualised, and collaborative. We work closely with GPs, surgeons, psychologists, and exercise physiologists to deliver holistic care tailored to your needs. We welcome patients with a broad range of nutrition concerns, including:
Your initial appointment involves understanding your food habits, lifestyle, medical history, and health goals. We’ll work with you to identify changes to your diet that can improve your wellbeing, and provide the nutrition tools to support long-term success.
Each consultation is personalised and may include a tailored meal plan or simple swaps to encourage healthier choices, as we recognise that there is no one-size-fits-all approach.
In some cases, if no immediate dietary changes are required, we may refer you to another health professional for additional support. This flexible, patient-centred approach takes into account your medical background, weight history, and personal goals.
We discourage fad diets and quick fixes, instead guiding your journey with practical strategies that support sustainable, realistic outcomes.
Our weight loss counselling starts with a thorough assessment of your weight history, eating patterns, lifestyle, and medical background. Based on your needs, we’ll guide you toward the most appropriate path, which may include:
We strongly believe that lasting weight loss requires sustained lifestyle change, and our dietitians play a vital role in guiding and supporting that journey every step of the way.
At MedSurg Weight Loss, we understand that every person’s relationship with food, weight, and health is unique. Our approach goes beyond just diet plans — our experienced dietitians combine clinical knowledge with empathy to support the emotional and physical challenges that often accompany weight gain and weight loss.
We aim to uncover and address the underlying causes of obesity, which may be metabolic, hormonal, psychological, or lifestyle-related. For some, the challenge isn’t just food — and we’re here to support the whole person, not just their plate.
We proudly offer a holistic, non-judgmental model of care and embrace the use of evidence-based medications and bariatric surgery when clinically appropriate, giving our patients every tool needed to succeed
We offer both in-person consultations at our Brisbane clinic and Telehealth appointments that are easy to access, even for those with limited computer experience. With short waiting times, you can get started without delay.

Common Questions
Do I need a referral to see a dietitian?
No referral is required to book an appointment with our dietitians. Many patients choose to see a dietitian independently for support with weight management, nutrition, gut health, menopause, emotional eating, or improving their overall health. Some patients may also be eligible for a Medicare rebate through an appropriate referral from their GP.
What can a dietitian help with?
Our dietitians support patients across a wide range of areas including weight management, emotional eating, bariatric surgery support, gut health concerns, type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, PCOS, menopause, and sustainable lifestyle change. We focus on practical, realistic nutrition strategies tailored to your individual needs and goals.
Will I be given a strict diet plan?
Our approach is not based on extreme dieting or quick fixes. Instead, we work with you to develop sustainable eating habits that fit your lifestyle, preferences, medical needs, and long-term goals. Your dietitian may provide structured guidance where appropriate, but the focus is on creating a healthy approach that is realistic and maintainable.
What should I expect at my first dietitian appointment?
Your first appointment involves a comprehensive discussion about your health, eating patterns, lifestyle, medical history, goals, and any previous challenges with nutrition or weight management. Your dietitian will then work with you to develop a personalised plan and provide practical strategies to help support long-term success.
