In order to provide high quality service to all clients, we ask for your cooperation with scheduling appointments. If, for some reason you need to cancel or postpone your appointment, please provide at least 24 hours notice, to avoid incurring a fee as per below. This policy still applies after hours.

Rebates & Funding
Many of our consultations attract a Medicare rebate, which reduces your out-of-pocket costs. The rebate amount is set by the Australian Government and is applied automatically when you pay with your Medicare card.
Allied health services (dietitian, psychology, exercise physiology) may also attract rebates through a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan (GPCCMP), Eating Disorder Management Plan (EDMP), or Better Access to Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) — ask your GP if you’re eligible.
Most GP consultations attract a Medicare rebate. Bring your Medicare card to each appointment and the rebate is applied on the day.
Private health insurance may provide rebates for allied health consultations depending on your level of cover, provided no Medicare rebate is claimed. We recommend checking with your insurer.

Do I need a referral to book?
No — you can book directly with MedSurg Weight Loss without a GP referral for most services. Some Medicare rebates may require a referral, which our team can advise on.
How do Medicare rebates work?
After paying your consultation fee, Medicare will rebate a portion directly to your nominated bank account — usually within 1–2 business days. Bring your Medicare card to every appointment.
Does private health insurance cover weight loss surgery?
Many private health insurers cover bariatric surgery, but the level of cover varies. We recommend contacting your insurer before booking and our team can help guide you through the process.
Are allied health consultations covered by Medicare?
Yes — dietitian, psychology and exercise physiology consultations can attract Medicare rebates if you have a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan (GPCCMP), Eating Disorder Management Plan (EDMP), or Better Access to Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from your GP.
What payment methods do you accept?
