Our Psychologists

MedSurg Weight Loss works closely with our Psychology Practice Partner – Weight Management Psychology. It is known that many patients who present for weight loss intervention may also have an underlying or undiagnosed eating disorder.

At MedSurg Weight Loss we focus on holistic care and aim to support our patients not only in the physical sense, but also to address mental health issues and promote mental wellbeing. We provide a safe and supportive environment for you to discuss your concerns and aid in the diagnosis and management of eating disorders such as Binge Eating Disorder, Bulimia Nervosa and Atypical Anorexia Nervosa. We provide support for our patients to access Psychologist visits under an Eating Disorder Management Plan or Better Access to Mental Health Care Plan.

Our affiliated Psychologists at Weight Management Psychology specialise in care of the bariatric patient and understand the unique challenges and experiences that people living in larger bodies face. They provide a range of specialised services including Enhanced Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT-E, specialised CBT for eating disorders), Psychotherapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, which can all be important when addressing a person’s relationship with themselves, their body and food.

MedSurg Weight Loss and Weight Management Psychology partner together to provide quality, comprehensive and holistic care for all our shared patients.
